Winnipeg’s live music scene thrives on creativity and collaboration, and Bands as Bands 24 was no exception. This unique event, hosted by Real Love Winnipeg, brought together incredible local musicians to perform as iconic artists. One of the highly anticipated acts was Hera as Sabrina Carpenter, and I had the privilege of capturing her transformation before she hit the stage.

How It All Came Together
Hera and I have been internet friends for some time, having previously worked together on a creative photoshoot with Muriel, a talented Winnipeg makeup artist. When Muriel mentioned that Hera had an upcoming show, we saw an opportunity to collaborate again. Hera’s energy is magnetic, and we knew this would be a perfect fit.
We quickly set up a virtual meeting with Muriel (makeup artist), Jer (hairstylist), and Hera to plan her look for the event. The excitement was immediate—we wanted to craft a transformation that embodied Sabrina Carpenter’s feminine, romantic, and alluring vibe.

the Photoshoot: A Glimpse into Hera’s Sabrina Era
Our plan was to do a trial run and photoshoot for Hera’s first performance night on Thursday, giving us time to fine-tune her hair, makeup, and styling before the big show on Friday.
To set the mood, Muriel and I created a dreamy, romantic setting in the studio. We added soft drapes, candlelight, and fake roses, all inspired by Sabrina Carpenter’s signature aesthetic. When Hera arrived, her infectious energy filled the room. She radiated excitement, sharing how this performance felt like a dream come true—a culmination of passion, hard work, and creative collaboration.
While getting her hair and makeup done, she reflected on how everything had come together so serendipitously. She even joked about how her ‘extra’ personality helps her connect with like-minded creative souls.
The glam session lasted about two hours, and with just 15 minutes for the photoshoot, we worked quickly. Hera embodied the playful, flirty, and confident energy of Sabrina Carpenter effortlessly.
The Glam Reveal: Hera’s Reaction
Once the transformation was complete, Hera was beaming. She fully stepped into character, embracing the fun, flirty, and ‘always sensual’ persona of Sabrina Carpenter. It was such a blast capturing her in this element, and we all knew this was just a glimpse of how incredible her performance would be.
Muriel & Jer joined Hera for the first show at Public Domain, ensuring she looked flawless before stepping on stage. The excitement was palpable, and after seeing the results of the shoot, we knew Friday’s sold-out show at The Park Theatre would be unforgettable.

We love taking behind the scenes photos in the directors chair. Everyone who sits in it feels like a star!
